How to export the GPX from your watch or app

The GPX is the file with the route you recorded. Here is how to download it from Strava, Garmin, Komoot, Apple Watch, COROS, Suunto, Polar, Wikiloc and Polarsteps, to turn it into your poster.

Strava

  1. Go to strava.com in a browser (on your phone, in desktop mode) and open your activity.
  2. Click the “More” menu (the three dots).
  3. Choose “Export GPX”: the .gpx file downloads.

Garmin Connect

  1. Go to connect.garmin.com in a browser and open the activity.
  2. Click the gear icon (or the three dots) at the top right.
  3. Choose “Export to GPX”.

Komoot

  1. Go to your profile and open your saved routes or completed activities.
  2. Pick the route or activity.
  3. Tap “Download GPX file”.

Apple Watch (Health and Fitness)

  1. Easiest: if Strava is connected to the Health app, the workout appears in Strava and you can export it as GPX from strava.com (see above).
  2. Without other apps: on your iPhone, open Health, tap your photo or initials and choose “Export All Health Data”.
  3. Save the file, unzip it and look for the workout-routes folder: each GPS workout has its own .gpx.

COROS

  1. In the COROS app, open the workout.
  2. Tap the icon at the top right and choose “Export Data” (in the new version, the three dots and “Export”).
  3. Choose .GPX and save it or email it to yourself.

Suunto

  1. In the Suunto app, open the workout.
  2. Tap the three dots at the top right.
  3. Choose to export as GPX and save it on your phone.

Polar Flow

  1. Go to flow.polar.com and open “Diary”.
  2. Click the training session.
  3. In the “Export” drop-down (top right), choose “GPX”.

Wikiloc

  1. On the website, open the trail page and click “Download” (top right).
  2. Choose to download it as a file, in GPX format.
  3. Pick the original trail (not the simplified one) so the poster keeps all the detail.

Polarsteps

  1. On a computer, go to polarsteps.com and open your account settings.
  2. Request your data (“Download my data”): you’ll get an email with the link.
  3. Unzip it and upload your trip’s locations.json in the designer: we read it as it is.

Other apps (Zepp, Amazfit…)

  1. Connect your app to Strava, which works with almost every watch.
  2. Once the workout shows up in Strava, export it as GPX from strava.com.
  3. Or draw the route by stops in the designer, with no file.

Got it?

Upload it in the designer and you’ll see your route drawn in seconds. If it’s several stages, upload them together.
